"I never turn osage orange because it is so hard it dulls your tools and it also has a tendency to crack. However this piece was so big and seemed so stable that I was unable to resist. There was some slight cracking on the outside but I stabilized it with cherry butterflies. The inside was crack free and I was beginning to appreciate this wood.

One thing about osage orange, it's color is striking but it never stops getting darker. The more it is exposed to the sun the faster it darkens. This is natural, all wood darkens some but with osage orange it's more noticeable.

This bowl will develop a patina over the years. This speaks of the many hands that have held it. I hope that this bowl will be passed down through many generations."
